Yvonne L.C. Wong

Yvonne L.C. Wong served on the Board of Trustees at China Institute from 1995-2020, and continues to sit on the Gallery Committee. Ms. Wong first heard about China Institute from her father who left Nanjing in 1937 to pursue graduate studies at the University of California. Like so many students from China, he was granted a $100 stipend from the Boxer Indemnity Scholarship Program managed by China Institute of America.

Her father believed in the value of learning about other cultures which Ms. Wong developed into a long-standing commitment to help promote understanding between the U.S. and China. After attending secondary school in Hong Kong, she graduated from Bryn Mawr College in anthropology and sociology, followed by graduate studies in Chinese art history at Columbia University. Professionally, she worked with small businesses to further strategic goals, skills she later used in her work in the non-profit world at the JEHT Foundation, and Cooper Union. Ms. Wong continues to support arts and culture programs that educate and promote mutual understanding.
