2026年5月,适逢华美协进社庆祝成立一百周年纪念,大纽约地区中文教师学会(CLTA-GNY)、华美协进社 (China Institute)、华东师范大学(ECNU)和耶鲁大学东亚研究协会(CEAS) 将于2026年5月2日联合举办第24届纽约国际汉语教学研讨会, 总结汉语教学经验,传播先进理念,交流现代教学手段,提高海外汉语教学的总体水平。会议将在位于纽约曼哈顿下城的华美协进社举办。

为了纪念一百年以来中美汉语教育成果和文化交流的发展历程,本次会议的主题是“美国中文教学百年与未来之路:创新、影响与启迪”,内容涵括汉语教学法与实践,面对海外新需要的文化对策,以及教材与课型设计,教学的比较和体会。通过此次会议,共同回顾中美汉语教育和文化交流的成果,更是呼吁更多的教育工作者、研究人员和从业人员,并在教学法、教育科技和全球推广方面继续探索新的领域。

欢迎中美专家参会发言,介绍自己的研究成果和教学心得。研讨会的议题包括:教学法、课程设计、电脑中文教学、偏误分析、汉字教学、师资培训、新媒体技术在中文教学中的运用。

报名发言

发言可以用中文和英文进行。会务委员会将根据议题分组,每组有4位发言人,时长为75分钟。请注意,每篇发言都需要提交独立的摘要。

As China Institute of America celebrates its 100th anniversary in May 2026, the 24th New York International Conference on Teaching Chinese, organized by the Chinese Language Teachers Association of Greater New York (CLTA-GNY), China Institute of America (China Institute), East China Normal University (ECNU) and the Council on East Asian Studies at Yale University (CEAS) under the theme of “A Century of Chinese Teaching in America and the Road Ahead: Innovation, Impact, and Inspiration” will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2026, once again at its historic downtown Manhattan location, 100 Washington Street, New York, NY 10006. This year’s theme commemorates a century of commitment to Chinese language education and cultural exchange, while calling on educators, researchers, and practitioners to reflect on this rich legacy and explore new frontiers in pedagogy, technology, and global outreach.

We invite you to submit a proposal for our conference! We welcome proposals across a wide spectrum of subjects related to the teaching of Chinese, spanning the following key areas:

RESEARCH: This area includes linguistics, culture, pedagogy, program implementation, assessments, etc.

PRACTICES: This area includes student motivation, administration, program promotion, teaching materials, classroom instructional strategies, ACTFL 5 Cs standards application, teacher training, community engagement, etc.

INNOVATIONS: This area includes technology and media use, online and distance learning, application of recent research on brain and learning theories, etc.

Call for Proposal

The Conference Committee welcomes your proposal submissions that align with the themes mentioned above. Papers may be presented in either Chinese or English. We are open to proposals for individual papers and panels. All proposals will undergo anonymous review, and individual papers will be thoughtfully grouped into panels according to shared themes. Each panel will have a duration of 75 minutes and feature four presenters. Please be aware that separate abstracts are required for each paper included in the panel proposal.

The Chinese Language Teachers Association of Greater New York (CLTA-GNY): a nonpolitical, nonprofit academic and educational organization for Chinese language teachers at all education levels. The mission of the CLTA-GNY is to promote quality Chinese Language teaching at all education levels in the greater New York area and to conduct professional development for Chinese teachers in both language teaching and cultural awareness. It serves as a resource network for Chinese language teachers to partake teaching and research information in various capacities, as well as provide a base for common pedagogical improvement and individual career development. Members of the CLTA-GNY benefit greatly from a broad agenda offered by the Association, including conferences, seminars, workshops, field trips, and in-service training and/or re-training for the teachers in demand. East China Normal University: Founded in Shanghai in October 1951, East China Normal University is one of the most prestigious universities in China and has always placed great emphasis on international cooperation and exchange, fostering strong partnerships with over 300 universities and research institutions worldwide. In addition, the education base in support of Chinese language teaching in the UAE has been set up with various programs launched to carry out international Chinese education in cooperation with overseas organizations. The university receives a number of international Chinese Teacher Scholarship students, and has undertaken China Studies Program over a long period of time. The International Chinese Teacher Training Base at ECNU is one of the most important bases in the world for cultivating international Chinese teachers.

The Global Chinese Language Teacher Education Association (GCLTEA) is a non-governmental, non-profit international association initiated by East China Normal University in collaboration with Chinese language teacher education institutions and professional teams worldwide. GCLTEA is committed to establishing a collaborative and inclusive platform for global Chinese language teachers and teacher educators, with the overarching goal of fostering a sustainable mechanism for advancing international Chinese language teacher education.

ECNU warmly welcomes international students from all over the world. There are around 6000 international students from over 130 countries studying at ECNU each year, ranking top 10 in mainland China. ECNU offers a variety of long-term and short-term, degree and non-degree programs for international students, including BA, MA & PhD Programs, Semester Chinese Language Programs, English-taught Credit-Courses Programs, Short-term Sessions, and Custom-tailored Programs.

The Council on East Asian Studies at Yale University
The Council on East Asian Studies at Yale University (CEAS) was founded in 1961 and continues a long tradition of East Asian Studies at Yale.

CEAS provides an important interdisciplinary forum for academic exploration and support related to the study of China, Japan, and Korea. Its mission is to facilitate the training of undergraduate and graduate students, and to foster outstanding education, research and intellectual exchange about East Asia. For more than sixty years, it has promoted education about East Asia both in the Yale curricula and through lectures, workshops, conferences, film series, cultural events, and other educational activities open to students, faculty, and the general public.

CEAS is one of the many programs and initiatives at the Whitney and Betty MacMillan Center for International and Area Studies at Yale.
