James Xu

James Xu is a serial entrepreneur who founded multiple, highly successful global companies and products. In 1993, James quit his information technology career and started Evergreen Enterprise with his family in their residential garage. Because of his instrumental role in pioneering Evergreen, the company has become one of the largest home and gift wholesalers in the United States and Canada. Along with the success of Evergreen, his leadership with Plow and Hearth has helped continue the company’s growth since its acquisition in 2010.

Since founding Evergreen Enterprises, James continued to build on that success by launching numerous other companies and bringing new products to market. The portfolio includes software companies, first responder protection products, electronic cigarette products and retail locations and a regulatory services company, just to name a few. James is also a prolific inventor. His ideas have led to business innovations and new products in many different fields.

Ever since James planted permanent roots in the U.S., he has been a stead-fast steward for Chinese and American cultural and business relations. He led five successful Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia trade missions to China and many other high-profile trade and culture exchange programs between China and U.S. Through his leadership and contribution, James brought together and led a team of world-renowned U.S. and Chinese artists to complete the iconic 12-ton bronze statue of King Neptune in Virginia Beach, Virginia.

James attended Shanghai University of Science and Technology and earned his Master Degree in Computer Science from Old Dominion University.
